Did You All Remember?
To change your clocks?
I remembered.
I did it with kicking and screaming.
I HATE losing this hour. What is the sense? There is STILL the exact same amount of daylight either way. It takes me two weeks to retrain my body that 3:30 AM is now 4:30 AM.
We USED to be smart here in Indiana and IGNORE this whole clock change thing. But not any more. We succombed to peer pressure.
LATER ADDENDUM:
I have discovered today that DST is a subject about which people are PASSIONATE!!!
Either they LOVE it and will defend it to their last breath (usually these folk are golfers, fishermen, etc who like to practice their hobby late into the night,) OR they HATE it (like me - because not only does it make them start their day in the inky blackness, but it also makes them lose an hour and their body has trouble adjusting.)
I didn't find ANY middle-of-the roaders on this one!!!

We forgot until Chris booted up the computer and AVG started running. He thought it was 7:30 and AVG isn't supposed to run until 8:00. The only good thing about it right now is that Colin is used to getting up at 5:30 which is now 6:30 so I can maybe psych myself into an extra hour of sleep. Growing up in MI it's just a fact of life. It was harder on our families when we didn't switch because they could never keep up with what time it was down here.
Ah ha - - - BUT, when I try to get up at my normal 4:30 tomorrow morning, my OLD body is going to THINK it is only 3:30 and I it will take me at least two weeks to "retrain."
Mom, it's always inky blackness at 4:30 in the morning! LOL!!
I don't mind it. I just don't obsess about the lost hour, I change my clocks and move on. =)
Well - - - perhaps when you are my age, and your biorhythms are more set - - - it will give you more problems.
ACTUALLY - - - for the past two or three weeks there was already light on the eastern horizon at 4:30. It was beginning to get light as I drove to school. That will ALL BE OVER now.
Favorite D-I-L...now I know why you are my favorite!!! I HATE DST but Like your friend Amy said, it was difficult to remember what time it was in IN(and of course the older we get...the MORE dificult to remember.. hehe!!)It must have been difficult for the border States.
Can we see some pix of the "collegiate" and hear some funny things he has been up to???
So I'm scrolling quickly through the comments over at Big Mama's blog (LOVE her blog) and there is one from "Indiana Keetha" and I think "Could it be?" and sure enough, it is! LOL
I really don't mind DST, being a Michigander at heart & having grown up with it, but I really think that since we're ON DST more months than we're OFF it that we should just stay on it all year round.

Grammy - - - it really isn't ROCKET science to figure out what time it is in IN when we DON'T do DST. When you other states were on DST we were the same as Central time, otherwise we were Eastern.
Yes LOHS - - - I go to BooMama and Big Mama's blogs multiple times per day. I found headless through those and now today I've connected with More the Messier whose comment moniker is suburban correspondent. Gotta love those fun blogs!!!!
Hey - - -I'm an equal opportunity commenter. I LOVE to get comments, so I spread mine around freely in the hopes of getting some back!!!
I really didn't care one way or the other. I just don't like having to reset the 10,000,000 things in our house that have a clock! Just exaggerating a bit!
I HATE DST too!! Try putting your kids to bed in the summer at 9:00 when the sun is still shining!!!!
Thanks for the shout out,K. I guess I'm your middle-of-the-roader--Since we have to do it why waste my time fretting about it?-it happens whether I b**** and moan or not!
I'm with you on the comments thing-LOVE them!
Count me in with the *hate it* group. Trying to get their sleep schedules adjusted is a pain, and, I agree, it is hard getting your kids to go to bed in the summer when the sun is shining brightly.
I grew up with DST in WI and I can REMEMBER trying to go to bed as a kid with the sun still shining outside. Stupid, just plain stupid!!!!
I'm no kid and it takes me several weeks to adjust to the change in my sleeping schedule!!!!
And let's not forget those of us in the business world who got sick of people missing conference calls because they couldn't figure out what the heck the time was in Indiana this time of year! It was a regular headache for me that has turned into a one time headache of adjusting my clock and getting on with the rest of the 20th Century. Let me know when you get the other 47 states (plus Mexico) convinced to eliminate DST. I'd be happy to switch then.
Now see Don, that is mind boggling to me that people couldn't remember to add or subtract one hour. It's not exactly rocket science - - - - or engineering!!!
I still hate it.
And why did it have to be move to March????
Believe it or not, even though it may be simple addition, there are some people in this world who have better things to do than keep track of whether Indiana is an hour ahead, or an hour behind, or the same time, or what. :-) BTW, I just got back from WI. Milwaukee and FonDuLac to be exact. Had some business with Mercury Marine. A bunch of GREAT people (who observe DST BTW! :-))
Trust me - - - I KNOW WI observes DST - - - I lived there for 18 years you know.
Which is why I made the comment! ;-) Really my point about WI though was the good people. I spent 2 solid days in meetings, but it was a VERY enjoyable time. Great people!
I always notice that when we are up there for two weeks in the summer, but I thought perhaps I was biased!!!
